Having problems with search results from google not going where they should.

I click on a search result and it takes me to some other search engine like search-loop.net, search-ltd.com and others, and then takes me to some site completely unrelated to my search.

I've followed your
"Preparation Guide For Use Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help" but I'm stuck on GMER.

I downloaded the zip file to my desktop, used similar steps to extract the file (I do not have the "Extract All" option as I have WinZip, so I selected "Open With" and then "Compressed (zipped) folders" which put me on the same path as your instructions.
It opened gmer folder on the desktop and showed the gmer.exe file.
I double clicked it and...nothing.
I waited a while and still nothing happened.
No McAfee warning or anything.
I didn't see anything in my Task Manager Applications or Processes.
I tried to run gmer several times, to avail.

Need help to continue.

I've included my dds.txt and attach.txt files for your review.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi,

Welcome to Bleeping Computer.

My name is Shannon and I will be working with you to remove the malware that is on your machine.

I apologize for the delay in replying to your post, but this forum is extremely busy.

Please Track this topic - On the top right on this tread, click on the Option button, and, in the drop-down list, click on 'Track this topic'. Under Subscription Information, click on 'Immediate Email Notification' and then click on the Proceed button at the bottom.

Do Not make any changes on your own to the infected computer.

Please set your system to show all files.
Click Start, open My Computer, select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.

Now, let's look more thoroughly at the infected computer -

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • We need to create an OTL Report
  • Please download OTL from here:
  • Main Mirror
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Change the "Extra Registry" option to "Use SafeList"
  • Push the Posted Image button.
  • Two reports will open, copy and paste them into your reply:
  • OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
  • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

Next, please download Rootkit Unhooker from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.
Link 1 (.exe file)
Link 2 (zipped file)
Link 3 (.rar file)
In order to use this tool if you downloaded from either of the second two links, you will need to extract the RKUnhookerLE.exe file using a program capable of extracing ZIP and RAR compressed files. If you don't have an extraction program, you can downlaod, install and use the free 7-zip utility.

  • Double-click on RKUnhookerLE.exe to start the program.
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan.
  • Check Drivers, Stealth, and uncheck the rest.
  • Click OK.
  • Wait until it's finished and then go to File > Save Report.
  • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the contents of the report into your next reply.
-- Note: You may get this warning...just ignore it, click OK and continue: "Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself! It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?".

Once you have the above logs, click on the Add Reply button below, copy in the contents of the two OTL logs and the RKU log. Also include any comments that you might have concerning the infection(s) and the infected computer.

Hi-

I see you ran ComboFix. In your reply, please copy in the the ComboFix log, which can be found at C:\ComboFix.txt. How is your computer running now? What problems are you still seeing?

Nothing has changed from my first post.
I cannot run ComboFix and I am stuck when I attempt to run GMER as described previously.
I hope this helps.

Hi-

ComboFix is saying that your computer has a very nasty infection. We need to investigate it.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) from HERE.

Note: If you already have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, just run and update it.. Then do a "Perform Full Scan"

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and next to Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy & Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Note: If you are unable to get MBAM to run, download one of the following Rkill programs to your desktop, run it, and then try MBAM again. If you are unable run the Rkill you downloaded, download another one, and try it.
Rkill.exe
Rkill.com
Rkill.scr
Rkill.pif

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 or 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

In your reply, please copy in the contents of the MBAM report.

Hi-

After running Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (my earlier posting), please download Rootkit Unhooker from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.

In your reply, please copy in the MBAM and the RKU reports.
