My son got problem with his PC today. A "Windows Vista Recovery" window was displayed and he was recommended by the screen to buy an "Advanced Module" to fix errors on the disk. Is this a virus? I tried to insert a screenshot, showing the "Windows Vista Recovery" window, in this topic but I do not know how to do it.

Hi S.A.A,

:welcome: to BleepingComputer. My name is Jason and I'll be helping you. You can call me by my screename jntkwx, or Jason is fine.

This does sound like a virus. Try following all of the steps listed here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-windows-vista-recovery

Hopefully, you will be virus-free after following all of those steps. If however you run into problems with any of the steps in that guide, please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
Regards,
Jason
