Hello all.

When I click Restart, the computer goes to the start stage with a black screen, but then doesn't boot up again.

I've tried System Restore and done a reinstall with my WinXP installation disc.

To reboot the PC I have to switch it off, and switch it back on again.

Thanks for any help.

What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

Thanks Allan. It turned out to be a virus, and when I started up my backup computer - that also caught the same virus. Cost me a bundle down at the repairs shop.

My own clean install didn't work. I don't know what they did down at the shop.
