Windows 7 Programs not opening

I'm working in a computer that when it loads, you hit an icon, automatically the open with screen appears. This machine has Mcaffe up to date.

I then entered safemode and:

ran superantispyware, malwarebytes, eset online scanning.

also ran this from another site:

Step 1

Please download exeHelper to your desktop.

Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of exehelperlog.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com, and should open at the end of the scan)

Step 2

Download OTL to your Desktop

1.Double click on the icon to run it (If running Vista or Windows 7, right click on it and select "Run as an Administrator")
. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.


2.Under the Custom Scan box paste this in


netsvcs
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
/md5start
explorer.exe
winlogon.exe
Userinit.exe
svchost.exe
/md5stop
%systemroot%\*. /mp /s
hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /rs
CREATERESTOREPOINT

•Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
◦When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

◦Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them if you need to start a new topic.



Step 3

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.•Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

•If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

•Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.

•The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.

•When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

•Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

•When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)

•The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

•Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.


Please help im running out of options.

If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds as if your file association for .exe files is no longer there/damaged. You should be able to go to this page:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html

and then download the .exe one (Its a .reg file), and then import that. Hope that helps
