Hello and welcome to the forums!

My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. :)

I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.

I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems.

If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed.

If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:

  • Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
  • Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
  • If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
  • In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
  • If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
  • Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
  • Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
  • I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days
failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
  • Please do not PM me directly for help. If you have any questions, post them in this topic.
  • Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.

Please download UnHide.exe by Grinler.

It will unhide folders/files that were set to be hidden by the infection you had.

I just downloaded OTL and followed the steps and it is running. But as it is running my Aira Guard popped up and said that it blocked AutorunD:inf.Should I have turned off Avira first. I'm so afraid now to do anything especially turn off AV without advice. Thanks. I will post what I get from OTL before I log off until tonight but not sure if you will get a full or correct report now.

Running ComboFix
Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • IMPORTANT - Disable your Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here

Note: If AVG or CA Internet Security Suite is installed, you must remove these programs before using Combofix. If for some reason these applications will not uninstall, try uninstalling with AppRemover by Opswat.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Posted Image

  • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Posted Image

  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.

Please make sure you include the ComboFix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

OK I ran the OTL fix and it did ask to reboot. I rebooted and I think I found the file you are looking for it wasin the OTL moved files with 06/04/2011 but did not have the hhm etc. Also I want to tell you that when I was gone today Avira ran the scheduled scan and found this Vopt.exe says worm /agent 265249 and I quarantined it. I also keep getting on reboot a Runner Error "Runner file name (updates for HP.exe lacks a '_' the app ID separator. I have no clue what it means but anything unusual I'm posting. I'll do combofix now. Here is the OTL log:

I won't do combo fix until you respond to this post. When you say disable the antivirus from systray. I think that is the start up programs at the bottom right of my taskbar, I know it is the Avira but what about PC Firewalls tool? I don't want to run Combo fix if I'm not doing the right thing.

You can leave the firewall alone, just make sure that Avira is disabled.

OK I ran into a problem with Combofix, the box came up saying that I needed to install MS Recovery and I clicked Ok and Ok to the user agreement but then I got a pop up box that said it could not install it because of low memory(low disk space for swapping files) or corrupted cabinet file but now it is extracting window xp2 CD boot floppies(it shows extracting cdboot3.img?? I thought I had installed SP3 and I'm not sure what is happening. I'll let you know what happens once the extraction is complete.

I'm not sure if it is really extracting. It looks like it as files move from folder to folder but it doesn't really look like it is progressing and it also says that extraction has failed. Please advise. I'll check back in the AM
