Does Windows 7 have built-in anti-virus, anti-spyware protection? Thank you. Murrar

Windows 7 (or ANY Windows OS) does not have an anti-virus "built in" to it's operating system, you must install your own. Win 7 has a "real time" anti-adware/spyware, Windows Defender, pre-installed. However it is my opinion and the opinion of many here @ Bleeping, that it is not a very effective program. I choose to disable Defender and install more effective 3rd party Anti Adware/Spyware programs/measure, such as these:

Anti-Virus:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/

Anti Adware-Spyware:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adblock_Plus
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/malwarebytes-anti-malware/
http://www.superantispyware.com/

Alternatives to Internet Ex-PLODE-r:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
http://www.opera.com/browser/
http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/make/download.html?brand=CHKZ

These are just a few of many programs/ measures you can install and are personal choices--YMMV.
