Setting up a new compter for my mother in law, Emachine, Athlon 3700, with xp pro w/sp2. when I went into the display and started to pick options for her desktop, screensaver, etc. the dropdown menu came down and just started to flicker through the options so rapidly that you cannot even read them, let alone choose one, and it also will not close, closed the display and went to the control panel same deal on the toolbar. I have never seen this before, went to a jillion forums and the ms website and no one seems to have seen this before, should i just take this thing back or is it a xp update or graphics driver issue? Even if I take the machine back I want to know what caused this.

New one on me, too...

I would see if the same thing happened in another profile (Administrator) or Safe Mode; If so, then perhaps it is the video card; I haven't seen any glitch or file corruptions do that...

I'd check you keyboard and your mouse. Often sticky buttons will cause this (so will a cluttered desktop - that's my problem when this occurs. Something is pressing a key or button).
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

(23 Nov 2017)FYI - I am completely blind in the right eye and ~30% blind in the left eye.<p>If the eye problems get worse suddenly, I may not be able to respond. If that's the case and help is needed, please PM a staff member for assistance.
