I've picked up another virus and no matter what I try, it seems to be stuck.

Three things I've noticed:

1.) It changes my taskbar from a green XP bar to the standard Windows gray bar. I can change it back, but then it will do it again some time later.

2.) Occasionally when I'm using Firefox, said virus will open a new browser window on its own and take me to an ad page (not like a pop up - it actually opens a new window).

3.) It reboots my computer unexpectedly. Simply shuts it down.

AVG also occasionally will pop up and tell me it's blocked threats that have tried to access the internet, or that it recognized a trojan and halted it.

I've tried MalwareBytes (which detected a few things at first, but now says it can't find any infection) and have a paid AVG subscription, but it's clear whatever is in there is holding on.

I'm running Win XP and would be glad to run whatever you guys suggest to help me troubleshoot. Thanks so much!

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
