I just got a virus on my pc.when i got it a file appeared in my desktop with the windows icon.its also on the startup area in the right corner.it scans my pc for viruses and says i got damaged hard disk parts.after a minute it got into it started hiding my files.i unplugged my hd so that i dont get any trouble there.
is there a manual way to get rid of it?or if i need to install an antivirus how can i do it?i cant start any program if i go into normal mode because of the errors i get.

Edit: Moved topic from Win 7 to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal
