Yesterday I clicked on a link in an email (sent by register.com tech support telling me that my IP was blacklisted).
Clicking the link in the email and running the blacklist check seems to have been the culprit for downloading the virus. Here is the link I clicked if it would be of any help: hXXp://www.whatismyipaddress.com/blacklist-check
Disabled dangerous lnik.
After I clicked this link and the virus started it was giving me popups tell me I needed to update my security, and autmatic updates are off, etc. I cannot open any of my programs, I get the "select from this list" notification.
I am running Windows XP PRO Version 2002 Service Pack 2
Yesterday I did a full scan several times with both malwarebytes and superantispyware and again this morning with Spybot. All scans found trojans and other items, but after removing them and restarting the issue is still occurring.
Please advise on what further info you might need. I will do my best to abide - I am not as tech savvy as many on here. Thanks again!
