First of all hi and thanks in advance for any help. I am having a problem with a conficker virus, we are on a network here and a number of pc's have been infected. We have stopped sharing all files and folders and disconnected from the network. Now we cannot update any security (i think due to winsock being corrupted) and cant open sites like www.cnet.com or microsoft security essentials or EVEN www.bleepingcomputer.com !!!...using IE but did get on here using chrome.

Any help or a plan of action would be greatly appreciated.

I am using XP Professional....the error code i get when try to update any antivirus is 0x8024402c

When i try to go to any site that involves security via IE i get to the main page and then a windows pops up saying operation aborted
