Ok then, here I am in yet another forum trying to resolve issues with this wonderful PC. Just how much time has this machine saved me in the last 15 years I cannot begin to appreciate.

And now it seems that there is such madness in the world with the viruses and malware/adware. Why cant we just get along?

My son may have had my firewall down to try to get better ping on BF2. how else this happened i dont know, less these adware writers can get thru with it up. Anyway in the last 2 days I have been getting hammered by WinFix and now I need to do something about it.

I came here to get help, because the search I did on Google about WinFix seemed to be like a trap set for virus scan scams, almost as if the creators of Winfix had preconcieved the whole mess and were fishing for victims to buy scans. And then there is the idea that they are just waiting for me to download some psycho burn onto my hard drive just to make their day.

Please tell me I am just paranoid and the world is a garden of friends waiting to help.

This looks like a pretty good place to work things out.

Anyway Hello.............

Welcome to Bleeping Computer, WillieMac.

How To Remove Winfixer / Virtumonde / Msevents / Trojan.vundo.b
If the fix offered here doesn't help, I suggest you post a HijackThis log for examination:

Read How to post a HijackThis Log.
Please read, and follow, all directions carefully.

Then, run a log, and post it in the HijackThis forum, at this link. Do not, fix anything, yet.
A member, of the HJT Team, will help you out.
It may take a while to get a response, because the HJT Team are very busy. Please, be patient, these people are volunteers. They will help you out, as soon as possible.

NOTE:
Once you have made the post, please, DO NOT make another post in the HJT forum, until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. The first thing they look for, when looking for logs to reply to, is 0 replies. If you make another post, there will be 1 reply. The team member, glancing over the replies, might assume someone is already helping you out, and will not respond. So, just make your post, and let it sit there, until a team member responds. This way you will be taken care of, in the most timely manner.
