My brother has a IBM ThinkPad T40 with Windows XP and a Linksys WPC54G Ver. 2 Notebook Adapter to connect wirelessly. After updating windows and installing Norton Internet Security 2011 he is having a problem connecting to the internet wirelessly. The status says: "Validating Identity" and never changes. This happens at my house and at his house with different routers.

Try scanning your computer for viruses, I suggest a boot-scan then see if you can connect after.

Sorry for the delayed response. I've actually tried all of the above. I have scanned it several times with Malwarebytes, Norton Internet Security and HiJackThis. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything, but I'm no expert or anything. Any other suggestions on something regarding scanning that I may have missed?

I've also tried another notebook card and software with no luck. I've tried changing back and forth between WPA and WEP with no luck at all. I've tried downloading drivers for the card and uninstalling them and letting windows find them, with no luck. At this point I'm really lost.
