I was on my computer yesterday everything ok and all of the sudden the desktop froze and refreshed on it's own and a little while later I found that I had no sound so without thinking so much I went to Hp to download the only sound driver update I could find for my computer (HP media center m7060n desktop PC) and when I rebooted I noticed the sound on but when it came back on the mouse was frozen so I used my keyboard to open the internet and that was not on (modem working but the computer could not detect it). I have a "slim" computer also so I hooked that up and the internet is working and there is nothing wrong with the mouse. I don't think the realtek update was not an update. Is there ANY advice on what to do? If I don't get any advice I will just assume it's a hardware problem. Thanks.

Restored it to a week earlier and it is working again.
