So, I have a computer with Windows 7. It's a 64 bit Acer. I've had the problem twice now with two different programs that the software installations will not begin. Zune software, but now HP All in ONE printer software.

I've tried the following:

1. Running from DVD disks AND full download from HP

2. Run in Safemode

3. Reset misiexe and Autoplay functionality

4. Ran windows update

5. Disabled Norton and Ran Malwarytebytes (all fine)

6. The file will extract to the %TEMP% folder. I've tried running the setup.exe from there AND re-saving it elsewhere.

7. HP Customer Support had me create another user admin account- nothing.

Anyone have ANY ideas on this? Windows 7 installation with my HP All in ONE printer is driving me bonkers.

Thanks!

Disconnect from the Net (unplug your modem) disable Norton completely, enable Windows firewall ... uninstall HP printer junk. Clean out all temporary folders.

Put the CD back in and continue ... do not plug in the printer until you are instructed to from the setup. Turn on printer.

Tell me if this works.

Unfortunately, no. I have tried everything I can think of and it just seems to not want to run the setup.exe file. I think I'm going to do a fresh install of Windows 7, anyone else have any ideas?

Here's an update.

I completely reformatted Windows 7 64 bit, reinstalled all my software from scratch, and the Setup will not work for my HP C310A printer. Not only will it not load from disk, but the fully downloaded file either. HP Support was useless and completely offered no remedies.

Let's see what VEW might find

Download VEW by Vino Rosso http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your desktop

Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.

Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left

Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).

Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run

Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad

Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply

It looks like the printer setup is going into a temporary file, with an unknown location on D:\ drive?

Let's clean all temps by downloading TFC by Old Timer http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/TFC-Temp-File-Cleaner-OldTimer-file187.html and save it to your desktop.

Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista/Windows 7 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.

Also, the RPCSS service is the Service Control Manager for COM and DCOM servers. It performs object activations requests, object exporter resolutions and distributed garbage collection for COM and DCOM servers. If this service is stopped or disabled, programs using COM or DCOM will not function properly. It is strongly recommended that you have the RPCSS service running.

Make sure this is turned on to 'automatic' by typing services, msc in the start search box. Click on the icon, when the window opens, scroll down to Remote Procedure (the RPCSS), right click on the line, select automatic and start the service.

Can you take a snapshot of 'spooler' in the registry and post it here?

1. Click Start, type regedit in the start search box, click on the icon.
2. Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler

I have an HP Photosmart D110 series ... Looks the same in my registry as yours.

Did you use the installation CD that came with the printer?
Are you trying to extract and install a driver?
How are you connected to the printer?
Are you trying to get wireless to work?

I tried installing from the CD and downloading the full installation package from the HP site. It just doesn't run from there. I can connect it USB and print while connected, but the setup that allows advanced features such as printing wirelessly and further functions do not work.

So I wanted to make sure the software works and tried it on another computer. After it extracted it ran fine and worked great. Just this particular computer... what gives?

Go into services and disable all Norton services. Set Windows Firewall to automatic and see if that does it.

If not, when you put the CD in, go to Computer, right click the drive an select to run as Administrator.

BTW... I can't help you with wireless printing and sharing because I haven't been able to figure that one out yet, either <_<

Has anyone found a solution to this issue?

I've got a machine with the same issue, it's also a 64-bit Acer. I've downloaded the drivers from HP several times both Basic and Full installations with no luck. I've completely restored the computer to factory settings, I've removed installed security software temporarily, disabled firewalls, run it in every possible compatibility mode and administrator mode, always producing the same "0xC0000094‎" error before ever even presenting me with a single OK box. The worst part is, I know this isn't localized to the machine because I've got the same model machine with a fresh install and it does it on that one too. Yet the install works fine on an HP laptop with Win 7 (go figure...).

I can't even get around it manually installing drivers because the ones it finds in the folder get installed with a "There was a problem installing the software for this device, please contact your administrator".

I'm pulling my hair out with this...HELP!

Hmmm, no one has any ideas? This one truly has me flummoxed. As I mentioned above:

-Tried to run setup from the CD - No visible error, just never seems to run. Check the event logs and find an application error (from what I read, the divide by zero error, 0xC0000094).
-Run in compatibility mode (every choice, from ME up to Win 7) & Administrator priv.
-Download Full and Basic installations for the correct OS from HP's site.
-After they auto-unpack, I get the same application error only in the event log.
-Since they unpack to %TEMP%, but I couldn't seem to find the files, I downloaded 7-zip and unpacked it manually to a location on the desktop. (To ensure there were no weird encryption issues or anything, but encryption is off).
-Running basic setup and full setup from their unpacked versions yeild the same silent application error.
-Printer is connected to the network, so I decide to manually install drivers by pointing Device Manager to the folder. It finds the drivers right away, but encounters some error during install and says "there was a problem installing the software for your device, please contact your administrator" (It's times like these where I wish there was this mystical admin who could fix stuff!)
-At this point, I restarted in to safe mode, (After uninstalling all the junk trial security stuff that Acer puts on the laptop) and tried running both setups from the download and the CD again. Same silent error.
-Now I decide since it's relatively still factory fresh, I will wipe the whole drive and return it to stock, then install all the updates and try again. Same silent crash.
-Then I try updating every optional patch known to Windows 7, still the same crash.
-Also worth noting I tried every configuration (Off, On, Hyperactive, Gimped, etc.) of Windows Firewall as suggested in some of the posts above...no luck.

This is one of the most frustrating things I have ever had to deal with...I can't use the printer without fixing this issue.

Really? No one has any ideas? I thought this forum was my best chance to find a solution because Acer/HP tech support point the finger at each other (of course...).
