i phone problems

my I phone wont read my sim card so i'm having trouble using I tunes.I only use the phone for podcasts.Is there a way to by pass the part of it asking to read the sim.So i can just use it as a i pod???

I think I might contact your carrier for that, if its not reading your sim card. Dont you need the Sim card to work for it to function as a phone?

Thanks for the reply.I already sent the phone off to apple to get fixed but they said it would cost more than the phone.the phone used to work as i pod fine without the sim, tell i updated it and it needed to be restored now when i pug it into the computer it tell me it needs a sim.I dont want to use it as a phone just as a ipod.So hoping someone had a tip to get past that.Thanks for anyhelp

No and the good people at apple told me there was no way a update would make me restore a phone to factory settings.I do a little computer repair so i know a little.I watched the phone updating and then watched as it knocked out my phone!!!I know there must be someway around it.thanks for replying

Im not to familiar with iphones, but if you no longer use the phone as a phone and never intend to, you can research rooting it, and seeing if that will fix the problem. I don't know if you can or not without the sim card, nor can I garentee if it will work. Theres a chance it will just make it useless to, but I guess its already there.
