Hi there

I am a first time "Bleeper"

My laptop was infected by a particularly stubborn version of CoolWebSearch About:Blank spyware. I think I have managed to remove it succesfully with help of an expert on another tech support website, for which I am grateful. However, I still can't connect to the internet or download email and didn't get much joy in solving this from the other site, so let's see if the Bleeping boffins out there can help!

My latest HiJackThis log appears below.

I connect to my service provider with no problem (dialup) but when i try to connect to the internet using Internet Explorer or Firefox, it doesn't connect, and usually gives an error message such as socket error or can not find server or can not find address (such as www.google.com). When I try to dowload email using Outlook Express, it also doesn't manage and evenyually gives error message about server not available, or something like that. I can connect without any problem on this uninfected computer, so it's not a problem with my service provider.

I have run Isp.fix and WinsockxpFix to no avail. Since removing the CWS, I have scanned with Ewido, Spybot, TrojanRemove, AboutBuster, CWShredder etc, and it all comes up clean.

Has CWS stuffed up my settings or ami I still infected?? :flowers:

Thanks in advance.
Pangolin

Problem sorted

It turns out that Aluria Security Centre (Spyware Eliminator) was the problem. All ran smoothly after I uninstalled this.
