Ipod Issues... [help]

Ok I have one of there very first Ipods. I just bought it off of my friend. Its the white one with the four buttons and the round clicky thing. Its the one that you have to connect with a fire wire. AKA 1394 Port.

I am running Window XP.
I have iTunes.
I downloaded the iPODSETUP.exe. (Tried it but I couldnt cause it couldnt connect.)
The drive says its working properly.

Any Ideas please and thanks!
