I admit it...I need computer help. Here is my problem:

I start up the computer as usual and load Firefox, but right when it gets to loading a page, the whole computer freezes. It also makes a loud beeping sound. It's done this several times. Below is what I've done to try and solve this:

1. A Virus scan through my antivirus (Bit Defender 9 Standard). It came up as me having 0 infections.

2. Cleaning up the desktop. I did this and still have this issue.

3. Ran a Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, & Microsoft Antispyware scan

4. Removed programs that I no longer used that took up memory

5. Cleaned my C drive

Any advice on what to do? If it helps, I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.

A better description of the beeping noise would be helpful. I'm going to guess it's a heating problem.
