Running windows XP on an older computer. Got myself the antispyware 2011 virus. All the normal stuff with popups, hijacking IE, and not being able to open .exe files. Used one of the guides off of this site, basically like this: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antivirus-antispyware-2011
But it also included a .reg file and I can't find the exact page anymore. Anyway, used the .reg file which seemed to work just like it was supposed to, then used rkill, and finally I made it to MBAM's full scan, but it stopped in the middle of it and gave me a blue screen with white text saying windows had shut down to prevent damage to the system and that if it was the first time I had seen it, I could just restart the computer. I didn't reboot during the cleaning process, but now it basically forced me to. Turned it back on, keep getting a black screen telling me that recent software additions caused the computer not to start normally and I can scroll through the following options:
Restart in safe mode (tried it, all I get is a bunch of jibberish and no restart)
Restart in safe mode with networking (same thing as regular safe mode)
Last working configuration, system restore? (gets me to the loading windows XP screen and no further)
Start windows normally (same thing as the (same thing with the loading XP screen)
So I can't even get to a normal working screen on this thing.
Please let me know if there is any necessary info I left out.
