After creating an AVI file for a 3D animation program, the program said it could not open it. So I looked up what the problem was, and it's apparently the type of AVI I saved.

The program requires, according to a couple of answers:
  • Using a Microsoft 1 Video Encoder
  • "AVI1.0 file of VFW"
  • One of the following types of codecs: AVI Raw / Uncompressed * Indeo video 5.10 Compression Filter * Intel IndeoR Video 4.5 * Cinepak Codec By Radius * Microsoft Video 1 * Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec v3 * UT Video Codec RGBA (ULRA) x86

So...is there a way to change the AVI compressor in Windows Movie Maker? I know I have Microsoft Video 1; I used it to encode some 3D animation a while back.

By the way: I have Vista, so the version of WMM I have is the built-in version.

Sounds like a codec problem, from what I see.

I would download/install the K-Lite Codec Pack Full, http://www.free-codecs.com/k_lite_codec_pack_download.htm .
