Hey guys,

I am having some trouble system restarting my computer to factory settings and any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I messed my computer up trying to update my video card drivers and long story short i needed to factory restart my computer.

Using the 20$ recovery CDS provided by gateway i started the process. First disk starts the recovery program and asked for disk 1 of 2. I put it in it tells me ACER partition is 4.2 Gigs and it will wipe my drive clean.
I put in the first disk and it loads as it is supposed to getting to 55%.
Then it asked for the second disk..... This is when i get an error message saying There is insufficient space on the disk for the temporary files required for this operation.
I can only click OK. Then my computer restarts with no operating system.

Is there anything you guys can recommend like maybe a program that will re partion my hard drive to a bigger size?? I have a 1 tera drive so i have plenty of space.

Again any advice anybody has im all ears.

Thanks in advance. :)

Are you using Acer re-installation disks on a Gateway computer?

Acer purchased Gateway in 2007, that explains it.

When you used the first disk did it have the option to choose the size of the partition?

That is a 1TB hdd.

No unfortunately there was no option to do that after i get past that screen i posted it just starts the operation.

What i find odd is that it says the partion is 4.2 gigs. and the instillation is two DVD's disks. im not to tech savy but isnt a full dvd around 4.2 gigs. so two disks would us more space than that of the partion.
either way iv tried the instillation a few times with the same error every time.

Update: After fighting with my video card to get the iso for gparted to work for a day. Once in gparted it work like a charm i re partioned my hardrive for 10gigs.
Now the restore disks work. :)

Thank you Arachibutyrophobia, and Bleepin Madman for your time and your suggestions.

If anybody else has this problem the solution is to re-partion your hardrive to 10gigs then use the gateway disks.

Thanks again.
