Yes re-rip to the hard drive, if you don't have an audio editor, use can Audacity (free) to "normalize" the CD, I believe this will adjust the volume over the whole cd.
or just re-adjust the audio level on each individual song. Your choice.
or if it's already in iTunes you should be able to adjust the volume in iTunes. In "File" > "get Info" > "Options" there should be a volume adjustment slider thingy.
