I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Windows Vista.
I got a weird message the other day:

Found new hardware
Windows needs to install driver software for your LATSHIITA DVD-RAL UJ-851r ATA Device. (replace II with I)

It seems the device - my DVD player I guess - was replacing M's with L's when identifying itself to the computer. Or something like that.
The "Latshiita" device was gone in the morning, but I had to run a Microsoft fix-it program to get the actual Matshiita (replace II with I) device to be recognized by my computer, and it has disappeared repeatedly in the past.
So there's some problem. Is something dirty, perhaps?
