it's a 5470c. i have d/l it from hp site, from cd, doesn't matter. when i open it i get a message: cannot find scanner. i tried power cycle, but to no avail. i need to scan something, so any help will be appreciated. thanks, boyd.

Check your installation procedure. You should be installing the software or driver, reset your computer, the u plug in the scanner. It is pretty much the same for installation of printers too. Another point you can check is in your control panel, check if your scanner exist under the scanner and camera icon. If not, repeat the procedure that i have mentioned. Do take good notice if the driver software you downloaded is for your Operating system. If all these fails, change your connector cable( which is unlikely to fail )...... get back to this forum if u spot any error or u cannot connect.
