I'm using XP, I.E. 8, on a Gateway 310s, with 2 gigs of memory and a 40 gig HD so it's an oldie.

This baby has been running slowly for a while now (been doing the Adaware, Malwarebytes, AVG, Commodo Firewall thing to keep it maintained somewhat), but since Facebook has changed its groups format, it's damned near impossible to get anything done there. It takes about 2 minutes to load, and if I'm lucky enough to make a post, it takes another two minutes to enter text. Forget about scrolling.......the site freezes like it's in concrete. All my other internet sites work normally..the problem seems to be only with FB. Any ideas as to what the ding dang problem is? I'd be very appreciative of any help I recieve.
Thanks millions in advance.

Is it the same problem with other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, etc.)?

Try downloading a browser to see if it does better.

http://www.firefox.com/

or http://google.com/chrome

Just for a quick update, I talked to many people in the FB group I belong to, and none have the problem I have. Some use Firefox, some use I.E. Due to the age of my OS, I'm unable to upgrade to I.E. 9, and reading some of the problems other folks are having with Firefox or Google Chrome, I'm inclined to not go there. I'm inclined to believe there's a conflict between the new 'groups' format on FB (my profile page seems to work ok) and my computer. Either that, or it's a FB glitch. At any rate, it's time for a new computer.

I wonder if my Spybot or AVG is causing a problem.

By using a different browser it will either confirm or eliminate the problem is on your PC.

Try atleast one of the above mentioned browsers as changing browsers is always the first step in troubleshooting. If you don't like them, you can always uninstall.

Happy to report Firefox fixed it. I downloaded it yesterday, and everything's running smoothly. Thanks.
