Hello, I was attempting to fix this infection by going into safe mode and running anti virus/malware/spyware programs, but got stopped.
(I should also mention that svchost is using 100% cpu)
I only attempted safe mode once, and met with a BSOD right after I saw "press space to run -----.sys" (I think it was STDP.sys).

After it rebooted itself, there is a screen asking me to select either:

Windows XP Professional
or
Windows (default)

Selecting windows (default) gives me an error "hal.dll is corrupted"

Everything runs as normal if I select Windows XP Professional.

What steps should I be following to fix these problems?
