Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.101209-1647)
I use Firefox as my default browser.

A few days ago while browsing around I randomly got multiple virus warnings from my Avira Antivirus. I was warned of 'JAVA/Agent.JZ [virus]' and TR/Trash.Gen [trojan]' multiple times. I immediately closed everything used CCleaner and started a Malwarebyte's scan. The scan showed a Trojan.Hiloti. I assumed everything was fine until today, whenever I click links on google I am constantly redirected to adds or random sites. I am extremely worried that I might have a serious problem here, I really want to get this handeled with before it evolves into a much bigger problem. I have done multiple scans with malwarebyte's and nothing has been caught, I have also used CCleaner a bunch which deletes all temp folders and cookies and to no avail. As I mentioned my Antivirus is Avira Antivir, I have been scanning with malwarebytes and I have been using CCleaner to get rid of all the cookies/temp folders. I also have Spybot Search and destroy on my computer but I haven't been using it since CCleaner gets rid of all the cookies. I do not really know what else to say, I greatly appreciate everything you guys do here on bleeping computer.

I am currently having problems getting GMER to finish, once It ends and I try to save I get a error saying insufficient resources and my computer locks up, I will keep trying but I don't know if it will work. If it means anything, before it crashed I did see a malware looking thing in devices. I will try and edit the post as soon as I get it working or if I can write down what I saw before it crashes.

Thanks so much for any help you can offer, Will

MBAM Log from first scan once I got the virus. Every other scan since hasn't showed anything.

Yes I do, any help would be greatly appreciated. I uninstalled most of my programs with Revo Uninstall since this post. I am cleaning up the comp for my father since I just bought myself a new one. I went into safe mode to do the GMER scan, the first time I tried I got a blue screen. PFN_LIST_CORRUPT 0x0000004E (0x00000007,0x0000C677,0x00000001,0x00000000). I was able to do it the 2nd time around though, and I did the DDS in normal mode.

Let's see if we can get that log from GMER.

Go to Preparation guide and do step 6 - Disable your CD Emulation Software and then do step 8 - Create a GMER Log and post the log from GMER

Please do not PM me asking for support. Post on the forums instead.
Please post the final results, good or bad. We like to know!

I did put up the GMER log in the reply... And I disabled the CD emulator like the posting guide told me to. I will do it again a little later though if that's what you are asking.

Thanks, Will

In that case, no that's not needed.

Let's use a couple of other tools instead

Step 1.
RootKit Unhooker:

  • Please Download Rootkit Unhooker Save it to your desktop.
  • Now double-click on RKUnhookerLE.exe to run it.
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan.
  • Check (Tick) Drivers, Stealth. Uncheck the rest. then Click OK.
  • Wait till the scanner has finished and then click File, Save Report.
  • Save the report somewhere where you can find it. Click Close.
Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in a reply here.

Note** you may get the following warning, just click OK and continue.

"Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!
It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"

Step 2.
aswMBR:

Download aswMBR.exe ( 511KB ) to your desktop.

Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it

Posted Image

Click the "Scan" button to start scan

Posted Image

On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply

Step 3.
Things I would like to see in your reply:

  • The content of the log from RKU in step 1 pasted
  • The content of the log from aswMBR in step 2 pasted
  • Are you still getting redirected?

Please do not PM me asking for support. Post on the forums instead.
Please post the final results, good or bad. We like to know!

There something in those logs that's strange. I need to look into that.

Meanwhile let's do an Online Scan

Please run a free online scan with the ESET Online Scanner
Note: You will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use
  • Click Start
  • When asked, allow the ActiveX control to install
  • Click Start
  • Make sure that the options Remove found threats and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
  • Click Scan (This scan can take several hours, so please be patient)
  • Once the scan is completed, you may close the window
  • Use Notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic

Please do not PM me asking for support. Post on the forums instead.
Please post the final results, good or bad. We like to know!

Step 1.
TDSSKiller:

Please read carefully and follow these steps.
  • Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.
  • Extract its contents to your desktop.
  • Once extracted, open the TDSSKiller folder and doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.

    Posted Image

  • If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue.

    Posted Image

  • If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.

    Posted Image

  • It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Click on Reboot Now.

    Posted Image

  • If no reboot is require, click on Report. A log file should appear. Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
  • If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt". Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

Step 2.
ComboFix:

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

Step 3.
Things I would like to see in your reply:

  • The content of the log from TDSSKiller in step 1.
  • The content of C:\ComboFix.txt from step 2.

Please do not PM me asking for support. Post on the forums instead.
Please post the final results, good or bad. We like to know!

Step 1.
CFSCript:

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the codebox below into it:

File::
c:\windows\Jfecivan.bin

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Posted Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

Step 2.
MBAM:

  • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Step 3.
Things I would like to see in your reply:

  • The content of C:\ComboFix.txt from step 1.
  • The content of the log from MBAM in step 2.
  • Information on how your computer is running now.

Please do not PM me asking for support. Post on the forums instead.
Please post the final results, good or bad. We like to know!
