I jumped the gun and posted this the other day without the logs....so here is what's been going on plus the logs:

I'm not a real tech-savy person. I've been trying to get rid of this google redirect virus since Sunday and I've hit a point where I don't know what to do next. I had been using Avast. I kept getting pop-ups. They were happening so fast but I caught a few that said "MS Removal Tool Firewall 2.20", "avastsvc.exe is infected", something about "Monster", and something about "lsas.blaster.keylogger". I also got 2 blue screens and had to remove the battery from my laptop to reboot. I don't recall what the screens said.

I've tried the following programs but still have the redirect problem, have not had anymore blue screens (yay for small fixes): superantispyware, malwarebytes, ccleaner, f-secure online scanner, and currently have F-secure internet security 30 day trial. I deleted all the rest including the Avast. They've all found infected files, or trojan fake ads, etc but something is still here.

I tried downloading Kaspersky but it wouldn't let me. It said to get the avptool2010 but I couldn't run that either. I couldn't use Ad aware 9.0 either.

RRTSergiwaAV toolkit said/found the following but I would have to buy it to delete them and I didn't think I should:

C:\\Windows\$NTServicePackUninstall$\wmplayer.exe
Contains Malware- Win32.classid-61348

C:\\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\inetin51.exe
contains Malware- Win32.classid-60790

The redirects that I'm getting are for: Tazinga.com; scour.com; budgetmatch.com; addedsuccess.com; asktofriendly.com
They happen in IE and Firefox.

Wednesday when I used my flashdrive a message from F-Secure came up that a "Trojan auto-run" was found and deleted. The computer is even slower than it has been. I tried to alt/ctr/del to get my task manager up and it wouldn't do it. I went to restart it and it instead shut off.

I ran the DDS and GMER. After the GMER ran I got a warning message for "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services." It seemed like the computer was going to shut down but instead the open windows just flickered. the logs did run completely.

In safe mode the computer runs at a decent speed. In normal mode it is soooo slow.

I'm unable to make a post with the DDS log in it. When I try I get a screen saying the connection was reset. It does this in IE and Firefox, Safe mode and normal mode. Other tabs I have open at the same time work just fine with no messages. I can't make it an attachment either. When I hit the "attach this file" button the box seems to "sink" behind the other text and it won't attach.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  • Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  • Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  • Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  • Do not run anything while running a fix.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

Click on the Watch Topic Button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

  • DeFogger may ask you to reboot the machine, if it does - click OK
Do not re-enable these drivers until otherwise instructed.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

    Posted Image
Download DDS and save it to your desktop

    • Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.
    • Shortly after two logs will appear:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • A window will open instructing you save & post the logs
  • Save the logs to a convenient place such as your desktop
  • Copy the contents of both logs & post in your next reply

Hi Gringo, thanks for helping me! I re-ran Defogger and DDS. Both went fine. Before downloading the RootkitUnhooker a box popped up saying "generic host process for win32 services." After closing the box I was able to download it and run it just fine.

I tried to send a reply with the logs in it and I keep getting the same message as above "connection was reset." The post I tried to make but was unable to had all 3 logs. I'm surprised to see the one above this.

Hello

you did perfect!!

I Would like you to do the following.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:

You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)

Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<

Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal.

You can download Combofix from one of these links. I want you to save it to the desktop and run it from there.
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
1. Close any open browsers or any other programs that are open.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.

Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Note 2: If you recieve an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion." Please restart the computer

"information and logs"

  • In your next post I need the following
  • Log from Combofix
  • let me know of any problems you may have had
  • How is the computer doing now?

It does seem to be running faster than it has in awhile! while combofix was running i got that "generic host process for win32 services" message twice. It had run, rebooted, ran again and I got one message each time. I tried using Firefox/Google and most of the links went where they were supposed to except one and I got the message "FireFox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." The rest of the page was blank. I now have 2 IE Icons on my desktop. While using Firefox I got the "generic host process..." message again and one of the tool bars (with the F-secure logo on it) went black and the little icons by the clock shrunk and went into 2 rows, one on top of each other. I restarted it and noticed the restart was different. The black screen only stayed on for 2 seconds (I'm assuming that is because it still says debugger enabled). This time no icons appeared on the desktop so I restarted it again. On this restart everything seemed normal except the 2 IE icons. While typing this post I got the "ghp" message again. Here is the log. Thank you so much for helping!!

I want you to run this tool for me next.

tdsskiller:

Please read carefully and follow these steps.
  • Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.
  • doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.
  • If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue.
  • If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.
  • It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Click on Reboot Now.
  • If no reboot is require, click on Report. A log file should appear. Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
  • If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt". Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

These logs are looking alot better. But we still have some work to do.

Please print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file. It will make it easier for you to follow the instructions and complete all of the necessary steps..

uninstall some programs

1. click on start
2. then go to settings
3. after that you need control panel
4. look for the icon add/remove programs
click on the following programs

Adobe Reader 9.4.3

and click on remove

Update Adobe Reader

Recently there have been vunerabilities detected in older versions of Adobe Reader. It is strongly suggested that you update to the current version.

You can download it from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
After installing the latest Adobe Reader, uninstall all previous versions.
If you already have Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition installed or do not wish to have it installed UNcheck the box which says Also Download Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition.

If you don't like Adobe Reader (53 MB), you can download Foxit PDF Reader(7 MB) from here. It's a much smaller file to download and uses a lot less resources than Adobe Reader.

Note: When installing FoxitReader, be carefull not to install anything to do with AskBar.
[/list]

  • Click OK to leave the Temporary Files Window

TFC(Temp File Cleaner):

  • Save any unsaved work. TFC will close all open application windows.
  • Double-click TFC.exe to run the program.
  • If prompted, click "Yes" to reboot.
Note: Save your work. TFC will automatically close any open programs, let it run uninterrupted. It shouldn't take longer take a couple of minutes, and may only take a few seconds. Only if needed will you be prompted to reboot.

    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.

  • In your next post I need the following

  • Log From MBAM
  • report from Hijackthis
  • let me know of any problems you may have had
  • How is the computer doing now?

I noticed that on facebook a video will replay automatically when I close a picture that I'd clicked on. Not sure if that is malware related or facebook.
I also wondered if a problem I'd had months and months ago was malware related. I had google chrome and really liked it. Then something went wrong(don't know what) with it and the screen then looked really messed up. The graphics got all scrambled, couldn't use it. The only thing I could do was uninstall it.

When running the malwarebytes the prompts weren't quite the same as your reply said they would be. There was no prompt to "show results" or to check on all but system volume... I also noticed that in the quarantine tab there were 3 items from when I'd tried to fix all this stuff before I came to Bleeping. I thought I'd deleted the program.

TFC didn't run inadministrator. It needs a password and I have no idea what it is.

Here are your logs :)
