My budget for the new computer is:

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)?
Gaming, Art and Graphic Design, various media work

What software do you intend on using on the computer?
Steam, Sony Vegas, Photoshop CS5, Corel Painter 11

Do you play games? If so, what type of games?
I like to emulate games from around the Nintendo 64 era, so 32-64 bit era. I would also like to play more modern games on Steam, on low-mid settings.

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it?
I probably have about 3-5 programs running at once, but some of them have varying memory usages, like Firefox to Photoshop to just OpenOffice.

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer?

Weather the computer is a laptop or a desktop doesn't really matter. The Laptop is meant for a desktop replacement, not for portability. I would enjoy a system with at least 3 USB ports, and at the very least 150 GB HD.
If I have to build the desktop, that is OK by me.
