I'm using W7. I caught a two viruses yesterday and when I used System Restore to solve a major problem, some of my files seem to have gone invisible. When I went under Computer, all my hard drives show the same amount of disk space used that looks right. One of my hard drives that's 1TB shows about 35% of the hard drive is used and when I go in the hard drive I see nothing there. When I did a virus scan, no viruses was detected and during the scan all my files and folders were showing under Items, including the files and folders in my 1TB hard drive and that proves they were not deleted. They went invisible. I tried a piece of software called PC Inspector File Recovery and after a scan, all my folders were showing through that software. When I went to restore some, it was showing some files going through but I kept getting an error where some files couldn't go through. After it did the best it called, it only restored empty folders into another hard drive. Is there a way how I can make my files and folders visible again from my hard drives? I have about 400GB worth of files and folders invisible.

Many thanks.

Have you rebooted since doing the System Restore?

You may try to undo the system restore and check if the files still exist. To undo the changes System Restore makes

1. Open System Restore by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type System Restore, and then, in the list of results, click

System Restore.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. Click Undo System Restore, and then click Next.

3. Review your choices, and then click Finish.

Download and run UnHide

Be aware, that system restore will NOT completely remove any infection, so I suggest starting a new topic in "Am I Infected?" forum.

Thank you for adding that Broni, I had meant to include that.
