problem in installing win xp-2

i have problem in installing windows xp-2 in hp Compaq laptop with amd processor.
when i was installing suddenly battery over and that time the installation process reached at device installation stage.
when i restart system, onscreen the message shown that " windows is restarting ..........." than it shutdown and restart automatically now the process is continuing (shutdown and restart automatically) please tell me how i solve my problem

What model Compaq laptop?

Have you checked the support page for your system...at the HP website?

SP2 is rather old and there were problems with some HP systems...I would suggest that you install SP3 (which includes SP2).

are you saying you installed windows while under battery power and battery died at installing device driver stage ?

if so, plug in for constant power and re-install
