Hi,

I have a Windows XP Netbook.

I was installing some 2D games when I notice something.

The name of folder that is suppose to be my name has the company name of the machine.

So for example:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users
C:\Documents and Settings\Asus

When I try to rename Asus I get this message: "Asus is a Windows System Folder and is required to run Windows properly. It can not be moved or renamed"

Meanwhile everything else is under my name.

How do I change the name of that folder and/or fix it so that that folder is not there and one with my name is?

I'm afraid to take another step because this is a netbook and I am still learning how to install OS by USB in the event of a major error.

Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Feiton

What is listed under Users in the Control Panel sub-section?

If you typed Asus when you should have typed your name...when installing...that might account for it.

If Asus built the system and installed any control mechanisms...that might account for it.

You cannot rename system folders created for users.

You can do everything except delete the old folder.

From my experience sometimes Windows won't let you touch some folders even though they are perfectly fine to delete. You can try external file browser. It works most of the times.

Well that sucks. I guess, I have to wait for a reformat one day. It's not game breaking but just annoying to see another name besides the one I want there.

Thanks for the feed back.
