Was infected with Windows Restore scam, successfully removed it, but have the 'disembodied audio' and browser redirect issues. Unable to run TDSKiller even after renaming it.

The problem is that Kaspersky puts so much information embedded in the TDSSKiller file it's easy for the virus to know what it is. You can see what I'm talking about by opening the file properties and looking at the version information. Kaspersky's name and TDSSKiller is embedded in it.

The only way to fix it is to manually remove that information from TDSSKiller. Use a free resource editor like "Resource Hacker" and edit the version information.

Hi elovrich,

Follow the steps here starting at set 6 http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html #9 will tell you where to post your logs. It may take a few days as they have a bit of a back-up but they will help you clean up your computer.

Good Luck.
