Building PC using Shuttle case with KV400 M/B. Sound on-board and enabled in BIOS
Drivers installed off supplied CD and everything seems OK in Device Manager.
XP is clean install (SP2) and has no conflicts on hardware.
Everything works fine (AMD XP+220, 512 MB) but cant get any sound,I have tried disabling on-board sound and fitting Creative sound card with exactly same results.
Please help, tearing hair out and not much to spare

When testing sound in control panel I get the message "Sound device unable to play sound"
