I browsed to some page off a google search result that inject a virus or malware with PHP code. Initially I was getting a fake antivirus infection alert and broswers hijacks. I isolated the fake antivirus .exe and solved that part but now, my browser is still being hijacked. Also I cannot load windows updates. Update.Microsoft.com is getting a page not found.

So far I have:
I manually renamed and moved the rogue .exe I found in C:\Documents and Settings\(user profile).
I have run scans and cleaned infections found by Lavasoft Adaware, MalwareBytes, AVG AntiVirus 8.5, Microsoft Security Essentials, and finally Symantec Endpoint 11.
I have checked the host file.
I have done a disk cleanup to delete all temp files.
I cleared the history, cache, and offline files in IE.
I checked the IE LAN settings for a proxy.

I am pretty sure either in the registry or in a buried file there is a rogue proxy intercepting IE browser requests but don't know where to look next. What should I do from here?

Other findings:
Windows Firewall isn't working. "Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings.

http://www.update.microsoft.com/ is hitting "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Looks like Http to Https redirection isn't working.

https://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us is hitting:
[Error number: 0x80072EFF] "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem."

It looks like the HTTPS certificated trusts may have gotten messed with.

Symantec found additional infected files in the:
"C:\Documents and Settings\Blake Hebbel\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache"
"C:\Systen Volume Information\_restore{##GUID##}\#####"

New posts to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ cannot be submitted but are being met with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". However a refresh takes me directly to the http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?.

Other Steps:
Turned off System Restore.
Moved all Java cache to c:\bin.

Renamed Computer.
Examined Environemtal Variable.
