exteral hard drive is not recocnized when pluged in

it has worked on another computer just fine. i have tried updating the drivers in the device manager as well as deleting the device and re instaling it none of this has worked i ran a driver finder scan and it says i have 5 out of date usb drivers dont know if that is the problem or not and i dont know where or how to update those drivers any help would be apreciated also i ran a rootkill finder and it says there is 165 descrepencies how do i fix these what program can i use for this thanks

How about some additional infromation like, the make and model of your PC, system info, the make and model of your Hard drive, and OS of your PC.

Sounds a bit fishy!

Did you try different USB ports?
