Hello All and thank you for this great web site. You do us all a great service.

I have an HP Pavilion Laptop dv9000 running an XP OS.

I was recently trying to root a cell phone and was using my laptop to try to create a "Gold disk" to reprogram my cell phone. I was using the laptop to make changes to a micro SD card and was creating an image to flash the cell phone with.

I don't think I had made any changes to my laptop and turned it off late last night. The following morning when I went to boot up the laptop, I pressed the start button, It went through the initial bios screen and then goes to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner of the screen. I cannot go anywhere from here.

Right now, I am in the process of running a test with the PhoenixBIOS setup utility doing a primary hard disk self test. Results to come shortly.

I am really stuck. I usually run a pretty tight computer with anti-malware protection, anti spyware protection ect...

Where do I go from here?
