Just joined so that I am ready in case I need assistance in trying to remove a malware from my wife's PC.

Don't know how she picked it up, but it took me over an hour to install MBAM. Finally got it to bypass the malware redirect by change the extension from .exe to .exe.bat !!!

Thanks for the pointer to the New User Orientation.

AS it turns out, running MBAM and an antivirus has cleaned up the PC and it is usable again, so I don't have anything further to post.

But I will keep checking out BleepingComputer forums for interesting news and fixes.

Thanks.
