Hi I got infected by the Vista Total Security virus thing on my Vista Laptop

It did weird things to my system like change all my files to hidden so I thought it had wiped everything off. Its only because my Itunes still played that I realised the files must still have been on the computer somewhere and just by chance I checked properties and realised all the files were changed to read only and hidden! I had to manually go through all the files and change them all back.

It also changed my desktop background. (I assumed that after the virus was gone my desktop would go back to normal because about a month maybe more ago I had the system tool virus on my computer which i reckoned at the time I had got rid of because it all went back to how it was before, but it hasn't happened this time)

It also played adverts over my speakers when connected to the internet. As soon as I disconnected from the web the adverts stopped.

I followed the instructions on here to remove it but I'm not sure its 100% gone. It took a really long time and lots of tries. Its taken 3 types of spy/malware remover programs, malwarebytes found some of it but not all because it came back, then I tried AVG which did nothing! Then I tried Ad-aware by Lavasoft which found some more files. I've run these so many times hoping that it will find it all. It seemed ok but then

On top of that I have had an internet explorer script error keep coming up on my computer:

In the standard script error box

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: 13
Char: 1
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
Code: 0
URL: http://www2a.glam.com/mobile/detect.act?affiliateId=38198522

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?

Yes No

I have never been on the above website and I dare not put it in to the search bar in case the thing comes back.

I don't know if this is relevant but a java box came up on my desktop a few times, haven't seen it since.

Can anyone help me make sure its gone? Get rid of the script error?

Then any tips on how to protect my computer better? I've had my own PC's for past 5-6 years before now I only had 1 virus to my knowledge on my PC, although I think I remember having spyware etc/ I've had this laptop a year and a half and before last month no problems and now 2 viruses in as many months. I don't go on any dodgey websites or at least I try not to. Sadly I cant remember the site I went on just before this virus hit, it all happened very quickly but I know it wasn't one of my usual. I may have clicked a link or something! Sorry this is so long, i have written a lot sorry!

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Then post your DDS and GMER logs as a reply to this topic. Once you have done that I will remove my reply and consolidate the posts so that you retain your correct place in the queue.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the reply and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
