My computer is infected with XP Anti-Virus 2011 and I was going to try to remove it using the guides provided on bleeping computer. I had a question with the FixNCR.reg program. I have my IE history settings set longer than the 30 days or whatever is the default, will running this program change that setting? I'm just worried about it modifying that setting and then I would lose all the old history past the default. I also need to run Rkill but that sounds like it should have no affect on the IE settings. I had another quick question about malwarebytes, I dual boot windows xp 64 bit and 32 bit, the 32 bit is the one with the infection but when I ran adaware and malwarebytes on the 64 bit (since I was not able to open them on the 32 bit) they did not find anything. I ran spybot S&D on the 32 bit later and it did find the registry changes caused by XP Anti-Virus 2011. Is this because I need to be logged into the OS with the problem so that the XP Anti-Virus is "running" so that the other programs can find it and its changes to the registry?

Hello.

I had a question with the FixNCR.reg program. I have my IE history settings set longer than the 30 days or whatever is the default, will running this program change that setting?

No.

Is this because I need to be logged into the OS with the problem so that the XP Anti-Virus is "running" so that the other programs can find it and its changes to the registry?

Correct. Malwarebytes is much more effective when it can see the malware running.

Hope that helps
