Is it understanding the Canon software you're having trouble with, or understanding how to process raw files in general?

If it's the Canon software you find confusing, there are third-party alternatives available:

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Plus

Raw PhotoDesk: http://www.rawphotodesk.com/

Bibble 5 Pro & Lite: http://bibblelabs.com/
