The computer is still slow on me, and Firefox crashes on me when I'm using it, as in every 20min or so. There are these ads everywhere when I browse that were never there before, and then there is the redirecting links when I'm searching through google. Half the time I'm redirected to 'http://www.goingonearth.com/'. Is there something else wrong with my computer? I want to make sure there is nothing else wrong with it too, how do I double check that there is nothing else lingering around that I might have missed the first time? I have bank accounts etc. here, I don't want to risk having that personal information stolen. How do I back up my computer so that incase something does happen, it can restore itself to its last settings?

Now I'm also getting the 'generic host process for win32 services' message every time I start my computer and also this keeps popping out too: C:\Documents and Settings\eren\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows and it shows the 'Themes' folder there.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  • Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  • Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  • Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  • Do not run anything while running a fix.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

Click on the Watch Topic Button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

    Posted Image

    • Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.
    • Shortly after two logs will appear:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • A window will open instructing you save & post the logs
  • Save the logs to a convenient place such as your desktop
  • Copy the contents of both logs & post in your next reply

Thank you for responding, here are the logs you asked for (I assume I have to post them in this reply, sorry if I make that mistake) *Besides the fact that it takes 10 min. to even type, and all my programs are super slow, I have to start them several times before they will run without freezing. *

Hello

I Would like you to do the following.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:

You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)

Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<

Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal.

You can download Combofix from one of these links. I want you to save it to the desktop and run it from there.
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
1. Close any open browsers or any other programs that are open.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.

Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Note 2: If you recieve an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion." Please restart the computer

"information and logs"

  • In your next post I need the following
  • Log from Combofix
  • let me know of any problems you may have had
  • How is the computer doing now?

I ran ComboFix but a pop up said that 'COMODO Antivirus' real scanners were still on. I don't ever recall installing this (I can't say for sure, but the previous user *my sister* might have installed it). It took 2 hrs to get to Stage 7, and I was disconnected *power went out* and thus the computer restarted. I tried running it again but got 'Incompatible OS. ComboFix only works for workstations with Windows 2000 and XP'. Eventually it turns on again, had the same 'COMODO Antivirus' warning and after that it hasn't done the scanning. Also a message popped out saying 'PEW.cfxxe' having to close. How do I run ComboFix again? I'm sorry for this inconvenience.

(The computer is running a little smoother, I'm not sure how that's possible.)

I want you to run this tool for me next.

tdsskiller:

Please read carefully and follow these steps.
  • Download TDSSKiller and save it to your Desktop.
  • doubleclick on TDSSKiller.exe to run the application, then on Start Scan.
  • If an infected file is detected, the default action will be Cure, click on Continue.
  • If a suspicious file is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.
  • It may ask you to reboot the computer to complete the process. Click on Reboot Now.
  • If no reboot is require, click on Report. A log file should appear. Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.
  • If a reboot is required, the report can also be found in your root directory, (usually C:\ folder) in the form of "TDSSKiller.[Version]_[Date]_[Time]_log.txt". Please copy and paste the contents of that file here.

I'm getting 'The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction' and that 1 file copied.

However, I did manage to find that TDSSKiller log but I think it may be incomplete?

I tried running TDSSKiller again but I get the same message. I also keep getting messages about 'Network Connection'

You (or a program) have rested information from mridyb-ivar.ru. Which connection do you want to use?

(Sometimes it's from different names, not just that mridyb-ivar.ru). Taskmanager won't run because it keeps giving me errors. And Firefox won't run either, I'm using IE and it takes 20 min. just to load and for the site to appear. My computer when it restarted gives a split second of the Recovery Concole and then goes on normally. I remember using the Recovery Concole a year ago when I had issue with my computer. What should I do now?

windows\system32\net.exe 'End program' and everything is turning transparent. IE and FF won't load and when I did manage to run it I get an 'insufficient' error message and everything on my desktop disappears except the Networks Icons and IE. Now it won't even unfreeze and it won't shut down or restart because I keep getting that system32\net.exe message. After the 4th try it restarts. I'll try again.
