My computers sound is not working, one day i went through and deleted games and programs on my computer that were no longer used, the next day my sound was not working, my speakers are connected the way they always are and they work perfectly fine on other things, my computer on the other hand is not detecting them, when i go into start>all programs>accessories>entertainment>volume control it says that there are no sound device connected to my computer, i have tried system restore and it did nothing, when i turn on my computer it says there is an update for my multimedia audio controller but every time it goes through it says that the installation has failed and it can not find the device. Can someone please help?

Usually the name is on the front and the model is usually on the back or side.

XP Drivers For Your System.

Download the Audio Driver.

Go to Device Manager (Start/Run...type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter).

Click the plus-sign in front of Sound, Video and Game Controllers.

If you see Realtek AC97...uninstall the drivers for it.

If you do not see Realtek AC97 but you have a yellow question mark in Device Manager (anywhere)...tell us.

Then install the downloaded driver...reboot the system.
