Went to log off and got box that said: The instruction @ Oxffbadd11 referenced memory @ Oxffbadd11 The memory could not be written.

restarted my computer once with soft boot, once hard boot. Neither time produced my desktop. Have wallpaper photo showing. That is all. Cntl, Alt, Deleted and was able to access internet via Windows Task Manager firefox.exe. Tried to download RKill wouldn't let me.

Please help...

Also really slow start up.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I am running XP, please help if you can, the only way I am able to get to the internet is through the windows task manager. Desktop icons etc is gone, can't find start button except through task manager.

Not trying to be inpatient, had to take system to computer-fix-it store. Even he couldn't get it to do anything. Had to wipe system.

Seriously, anyone reporting anything negative regarding Avast? Did you know that it is from a Eastern European country?
