I have a upgraded graphics card and a 23 inch HP monitor connected by an HDMI cable. Things like the internet and word processing look fine but downloaded movies and games look like crap.
Any ideas.
Thanks
Dave

Hi,

As the old saying goes with video encoding it is the same for playing videos, if you put crap in then you get crap out. IE if you play a video that is say made at a resolution of 320x480i then it is played on a screen that has a resolution of 1600x900, thus creating a stretched out video to fit the wide screen of the monitor you get pixellation (meaning the video is so stretched you can see the pixels) its gonna look horrible and there is really nothing you can do about it. You would need to re shoot the video with a camera that can make a video at a resolution the same or higher than that of your monitors output resolution. Such as 1080p HD resolution.

Hope this helps answer your question. (Also anyone feel free to correct me if i got anything wrong).

I am playing Heroes of Might and Magic 5 an older game so what you are saying makes perfect seance. Do you think the new Heroes 6 will look any better.
Thanks.

That will depend on the developer.
