My budget for the new computer is:
Between $1000-$1500

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)?
Everything except programming, as well as working with photos, multiple browsers in use at the same time

What software do you intend on using on the computer?
MS Office (all programs) Adobe Photo Shop & misc. photo programs, Windows Live Mail, Canon All-in One printer programs for scanning, copying, faxing, Skype, some purchased games (not online gaming)

Do you play games? If so, what type of games?
Simple downloaded games, nothing online

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it?
Normally have two or three programs running at the same time, with multiple browsers open

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer?
Pictures yes, music not yet. Also have an external drive for back-up (hoping it will be compatible with Win 7

Purchase a new desktop PC every few years and keep for a number of years. Currently have a three year old Dell XPS 210, 4 Gigs of RAM. Want to double RAM at least, also go with a larger flat panel monitor then I currently have to a 22-24". One T of hard drive space is fine.
Would appreciate recommendations and brands to consider. My last four PC's have been Dell desktops and one laptop. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

2 options, prebuilt or custom built? If you prefer not to build it yourself then this one should do.

Thank you very much for your reply and suggestion. I have heard that Toshiba makes a great laptop, but I am looking for a desktop PC with a large monitor.... Pre-built. I do appreciate the response in any case.
