I know it says to post what malware is on the machine, but I don't know.

Here's what has happened thusfar:

8:00pm - My wife sees a hard drive error warning and clicks ok a few times and the PC reboots.

8:15pm - I take a look and see some sort of fake hard drive error fix box that I can't close out of.

8:20pm - I try to logon to Google and search for some ideas. Every link I click to symantec or mcafee, etc gets hijacked and sends me to another page.

8:21pm - ads start to play on my speakers.

8:23pm - I log off of my account and log on as my wife. I notice there are NO PROGRAMS in the Programs list, I am able to get on the internet and not be totally hijacked, and even run my Symantec (updated 3 days ago) and nothing is found.

8:45pm - I walk away feeling that I've lost this PC.

Can you give me somewhere to start?
