Hello all! This is my first post, so I apologize in advance for any frustration I may cause all those with techno-know how. I'm not an expert so it takes me a bit of time to understand what's going on!

Here's the problem. I've had the dreaded Google Redirect Virus on my computer for a month or so now. Everytime I'm on Google and even other sites using google search (even the forum search on BleepingComputer!) and try to seach for something, I get redirected to different websites that have nothing to do with my original search. It is so frustrating!! In the past I have been able to just click 'Back' a couple of times and it would work fine, but lately even doing that has not worked and it is making it impossible to use the computer!

I recently installed TDDS Killer as per forum recommendations. I followed the instructions, renamed the file, launched the scan and surprisingly, it did not find any threat, it said. That's very strange because I definitely know it is the redirect virus!

Is there anything else I can do to kill this annoying virus? Should I uninstall the TDSS Killer now?

I appreciate it if anyone could give me a helping hand. My husband and I use this computer frequently. As mentioned before, I'm no expert so some step by step instuctions would be nice too...

Thank you so much!

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.

Not really. There are other types of malware and other ways to cause redirects not related to TDSS.

Following Budapest's instructions will create logs to help identify the cause.
