Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! I am about to loose my mind trying to fix this!!! About 3 days ago, I started getting redirected from Google search pages. I use Mozilla as a browser. IE did not seem to have a problem. I have Norton 360 plus their firewall. Norton did not find it, neither did Malwarebytes or Spyware Doctor. I did a CD reboot/recovery from Norton -- found nothing. Also, strangely, I was not able to restore my computer to any restore points, just said it couldn't do it, no explanation given. This a.m. I received a call from AMEX -- thousands of dollars in fraudulent transactions have occurred on that card. UGH!!! What else have they stolen from my computer? I'm scared to death they have totally stolen my identity. I also have a password protected Cisco Router.

When I disabled Java Scripts I no longer was redirected. I uninstalled Java and have not reinstalled it. However, when I enable Java scripts in Mozilla, the redirect still happens. I'm so frustrated, and frankly scared, that I'm about ready to reformat!!

PLEASE HELP!

Jackie

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer.

My name is km2357 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

If for any reason you do not understand an instruction or are just unsure then please do not guess, simply post back with your questions/concerns and we will go through it again.

Please do not start another thread or topic, I will assist you at this thread until we solve your problems.

Lastly the fix may take several attempts and my replies may take some time but I will stick with it if you do the same.

Sorry for the delay in replying, the forum is very busy. If you still need help, please do the following:

Step # 1 Download and run DDS

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Step # 2: Download and Run Gmer

Please download gmer.zip from Gmer and save it to your desktop.

***Please close any open programs ***

Double-click gmer.exe. The program will begin to run.

**Caution**
These types of scans can produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOTKIT" entries unless advised by a trained Security Analyst

If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No.

If you do not receive notice about possible rootkit activity remain on the Rootkit/Malware tab & make sure that the 'Sections' button is ticked and the 'Show All' button is unticked.
  • Click the Scan button and let the program do its work. GMER will produce a log.
  • Once the scan is complete, you may receive another notice about rootkit activity.
  • Click OK.
  • GMER will produce a log. Click on the Save button, and save the log as gmer.txt somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop.

DO NOT touch the PC at ALL for Whatever reason/s until it has 100% completed its scan, or attempted scan in case of some error etc !

Please post the results from the GMER scan in your reply.

In your next post/reply, I need to see the following:

1. The two DDS Logs (DDS and Attach.txt)
2. The GMER Log

Use multiple posts if you can't fit everything into one post

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I have attached all the logs. When this problem started I was being randomly redirected to random sites, after doing some cleanup, I started only getting redirected to a single site--only in Mozilla & only if Java script is enabled. Will post Gmer in another reply -- too big

OK, just checked and my gmer is 1.48 mb. Not sure if I ran it wrong -- had everything checked except show all. It this size seems right to you, I can break it up into 4 files to upload it.

Thanks,

Hi shark6400. :)

I went ahead and edited in your DDS and Attach logs. From now just post any logs I ask for normally, do not attach them unless requested to do so.

Thanks. :)

Since GMER gave us such a big log, lets try another Rootkit scanner in its place and see if we can get a smaller log.

Step # 1:Remove one of your Anti Virus programs.

You are operating your computer with multiple Anti Virus programs running in memory at once:

Norton 360

Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus 8.0

Anti-virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash.

Please remove one of them.

Step # 2: Download and Run RKUnHooker

  • Please Download Rootkit Unhooker Save it to your desktop.
  • Now double-click on RKUnhookerLE.exe to run it.
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan.
  • Check (Tick) Drivers, Stealth. Uncheck the rest. then Click OK.
  • Wait till the scanner has finished and then click File, Save Report.
  • Save the report somewhere where you can find it. Click Close.
Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in a reply here.

Note** you may get the following warning, just click OK and continue.

"Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!
It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"

Post the RKUnHooker Log in your next post/reply.

First off, thank you so much for helping me!!!!

!) I removed SpyDoctor. I had only added this when all this nonsense started happening.

2) There was a windows update last night and when my computer restarted, I got a new error -- "Data Execution Prevention Generic Host Process for win32 Services" Have no idea what that was about, but my problem still exists, so it wasn't about that.

3) Adobe flash player wanted to update, but I canceled it.

4) Here is my report:

3) Adobe flash player wanted to update, but I canceled it.

Ok. Once we get your computer clean/fixed you'll want to have Adobe Flash Player updated to its latest version of 10.2.159.1, which came out earlier this week/late last week.

Step # 1: Download and Run GooredFix

Please download GooredFix from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
  • Ensure all Firefox windows are closed.
  • To run the tool, double-click it (XP), or right-click and select Run As Administrator (Vista).
  • When prompted to run the scan, click Yes.
  • GooredFix will check for infections, and then a log will appear. Please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called GooredFix.txt).

Step # 2: Download and Run ComboFix

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

*Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please post C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

In your next post/reply, I need to see the following:

1. GooredFix Log
2. ComboFix Log

Oh, I forgot the most important thing -- this fixed my problem. Would this bug have been able to get my financial info as my AMEX was used on the internet. Don't know if that was from this bug or somewhere else.

THANK YOU!!!!!!

That's great to hear that your problem has been fixed. :thumbup2:

As for your AMEX card, I don't know if it was this malware we removed just now or the malware you cleaned up earlier (that you mentioned in an earlier post) that was able to get at your financial info. You did say in your very first post that you got a call from AMEX that fraudulent actions occurred on your card. Hopefully you explained to them what has/had been going on and they put a hold on your AMEX card till things got/can get straightened out. Since we still have some more work to do with your computer, if you have access to another computer (preferably a clean one. :) ), you can use that to change any password(s) you use when logging into AMEX's home webpage.

Step # 1: Run CFScript

  • Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

    KILLALL::

    File::

    c:\windows\Ryoliyiji.bin
    c:\windows\umapasule.dll

    DDS::

    uURLSearchHooks: H - No File
    mURLSearchHooks: H - No File

  • Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

    Posted Image

Note: This CFScript is for use on shark6400's computer only! Do not use it on your computer.

  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

In your next post/reply, I need to see the following:

1. The ComboFix Log that appears after Step 1 has been completed.
2. A fresh DDS Log taken after Step 1 has been completed.

Step # 1 Update Adobe Acrobat Reader

There is a newer version of Adobe Acrobat Reader available. (See Note below)

  • First, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Adobe Reader 9.4.3.
  • Please go to this link Adobe Acrobat Reader Download Link
  • On the right Untick McAfee® Security Scan Plus if you do not wish to include this in the installation.
  • Click the Continue button
  • Click Run, and click Run again
  • Next click the Install Now button and follow the on screen prompts

Note: Adobe Reader X is a large program and if you prefer a smaller program you can get Foxit 4.3.1 instead from http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php

If you decide to install Foxit 4.3.1 instead of Adobe, do the following during Foxit's Setup/Installation process:

Uncheck the following boxes:

I accept the License Terms and want to install Foxit Toolbar

Make Ask.com my default search

Create desktop, quick launch and start menu icon to eBay

ESET Online Scanner:

Note: You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan. You will however need to disable your current installed Anti-Virus, how to do so can be read here.

Vista/Windows 7 users: You will need to to right-click on the either the IE or FF icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select Run as Administrator from the context menu.

  • Please go here to run the scan.

Note: If using Mozilla Firefox you will need to download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe when prompted then double click on it to install.
All of the below instructions are compatible with either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox.

  • Select the option YES, I accept the Terms of Use then click on: Posted Image
  • When prompted allow the Add-On/Active X to install.
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is NOT checked, and the option Scan archives is checked.
  • Now click on Advanced Settings and select the following:
    • Scan for potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
  • Now click on: Posted Image
  • The virus signature database... will begin to download. Be patient this make take some time depending on the speed of your Internet Connection.
  • When completed the Online Scan will begin automatically.
  • Do not touch either the Mouse or keyboard during the scan otherwise it may stall.
  • When completed select Uninstall application on close if you so wish, make sure you copy the logfile first!
  • Now click on: Posted Image
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.
Note: Do not forget to re-enable your Anti-Virus application after running the above scan!

In your next post/reply, I need to see the following:

1. ESET Log
2. A fresh DDS Log
3. How is your computer doing, any problems?
